Benicia: Several-alarm grass hearth closes roadway west of I-680


BENICIA — Firefighters were being doing the job to contain a several-alarm grass hearth Wednesday evening west of Interstate 680 that could be found from areas of the East Bay, authorities explained.

The fireplace started about 4:40 p.m. in the 2000 block of Lake Herman Highway shut to Channel Road, and picked up second- and 3rd-alarms within a half hour as various firefighting agencies from all-around Solano County sent resources.

By 5:30 p.m., authorities shut Lake Herman in both equally instructions immediately after flames reportedly jumped the roadway. Preliminary estimates of the fire said 50 acres ended up burned with no containment nevertheless, but Cal Fireplace up to date that about 6:10 p.m. to 60 acres and 30 percent containment.

As of 7:20 p.m., Cal Hearth pegged the blaze at about 115 acres with 40 per cent containment, with flames’ forward progress stopped due in aspect to strong mutual-assist responses and favorable climate disorders.

There had been no initial reports of any threatened structures or evacuations, and a trigger was beneath investigation.
