Juneteenth was celebrated regionally and throughout the country this weekend.

Juneteenth is the holiday celebrating the day in 1865 that all enslaved black people acquired they had been freed from bondage. Last calendar year, the U.S. Senate unanimously accepted a resolution setting up June 19 as Juneteenth Nationwide Independence Day.
