‘Banana Republic’: Ron DeSantis slams FBI Mar-a-Lago raid

Gov. Ron DeSantis slammed the FBI’s raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago vacation resort in Palm Seashore, Florida.

The Florida Republican despatched a tweet Monday evening as it was described the raid was relevant to Trump’s dealing with of presidential documents, including classified files, just after leaving office.

“The raid of MAL is a different escalation in the weaponization of federal companies in opposition to the Regime’s political opponents, when people today like Hunter Biden get treated with child gloves. Now the Routine is acquiring a further 87k IRS agents to wield versus its adversaries? Banana Republic,” DeSantis tweeted.


The governor, who is seen as a top Republican presidential candidate for 2024 if he embarks on a campaign, was referring to the federal investigation into Hunter Biden and the Inflation Reduction Act’s $46 billion provision that could lead to the using the services of of more than 80,000 extra IRS agents.

DeSantis has been a Trump ally, acquiring the previous president’s endorsement through his very first run for governor in 2018. He is working for reelection this calendar year.

In announcing that Mar-a-Lago experienced been raided on Monday, Trump said in a statement that he is the target of “political targeting.” The Justice Office and FBI have declined to remark on the subject.
