BEIJING — China says military services workouts by its navy, air force, and other departments are underway in 6 zones bordering Taiwan.

The drills have been prompted by a check out to the island by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) this week and are meant to promote China’s menace to attack the self-governing island republic in reaction to moves to solidify its de facto independence from Chinese rule with assist from the United States, a vital ally.

China’s Xinhua Information Agency said the workout routines ended up joint functions centered on “blockade, sea target assault, strike on floor targets, and airspace regulate.” Taiwan has set its armed service on notify and staged civil protection drills when the U.S. has quite a few naval property in the space.
