The Jacksonville, Florida, Town Council voted 13-6 Tuesday to defeat a resolution that would have observed the city remove all of its Confederate monuments.

At minimum $500,000 would have been allotted to clear away these types of controversial statues as the Daughters of the Confederacy monument and a pillar commemorating Confederate troopers.
